Albania is famous for its religious tolerance, which is valued and broadly supported by Albanian citizens. True to the Albanian saying, Albanian’s religion is Albanianism.

More than 90 percent of Albanians consider religious tolerance to be a fundamental value and an important element of Albanian culture. As Ahmed Shaheed United Nations Special Rapporteur on Religion and Belief noted after a visit in Albania, ‘Freedom of religion or belief is a practical reality in Albania, and there is much the world can learn from the Albanian experience in respecting freedom of thought, conscience and religion or belief, and achieving inter-religious harmony’.
