As more and more people search for locally sourced, farm-fresh food, the concept of farm-to-table is growing in popularity in Albania, where the government is supporting the slow food movement found in many of its agritourisms to prevent local food cultures and traditions from disappearing; this way also supporting the development of sustainable tourism in rural areas through the protection of the environment, the preservation of traditions and the promotion of typical local products accompanied by the wonderful Albanian hospitality.
You can have an unforgettable agritourism adventure and taste mouth-watering products from all over the country in the many agritourism farms, from Saranda’s mandarins, Berati’s olive oil, Korca’s apples, Tropoja’s chestnuts, or Puka’s mushrooms and truffles or the local brandy, raki.
The new slow food movement has brought back to life a number of historic villages like Theth, Dhermi, Vuno etc, which have now become a preferred destination for many visitors. This is also thanks to the great participation and leadership of women, who make up more than half of the workforce in the sector.
