Raki is the country’s most traditional drink. It can be made from a variety of fruits such as plums and walnuts, however grapes are the most common, especially in the south, in Skrapar and Permet which are well known for their good quality production.

Apart from the grape raki, the wild berries such as blackberry, plum or other types of fruit raki have been produced for centuries in the mountainous areas of northern Albania.

Raki can be consumed as an aperitif or during meals. It has a high alcohol content (20° - 40°) and should be drank moderately.
