The Albanian Riviera is characterized by a constellation of rocky and isolated beaches with deep and aquamarine waters, surrounded by scenic hills and vertiginous mountains covered in lush and untamed vegetation that is typical of the Mediterranean.

Charming and hospitable villages were built over the centuries between the mountains and the sea, places where visitors can find a temporary home to enjoy the splendid waters and breathtaking vistas of the Ionian Sea.

With 300 days of sun and warm temperatures even in January, the Albanian Riviera can be enjoyed almost all year round, even beyond its beaches, though they are the main attraction.

Some of the most iconic beaches of Albania are in the southern shores, including the Dhërmi, Jalë, Himarë, Qeparo, and Borsh cluster, and Saranda and Ksamil a bit further south.

Travelling to the Ionian cost from the Llogara Pass, located at 1,057 meters above sea level, visitors will witness breathtaking view of this coast.

You can see below some of our favourite Ioanian beaches:

Ksamil Beach and Ksamil Islands

Ksamil Beach is one of the most popular beaches in Albania, and for good reason. With its crystal-clear waters and white sandy beaches, like Pema e Thate beach and more, is the perfect spot for families to enjoy a day in the sun.

The four tiny islands of Ksamil cover an area of about 8.9 ha. They are home to an untouched and evergreen landscape, made even more beautiful by the sparkling and turquoise waters of the Ionian. The islands are accessible only by small boats, contributing to its pristine nature. Several restaurants offer local delicacies.

Sazan Island: Sazan island, Albania’s largest, lies in a strategically important location between the Strait of Otranto and the mouth of the Bay of Vlorë, marking the border between the Adriatic and Ionian seas. With its bunkers and tunnels designed to withstand nuclear attach, and its pristine coastline, it is still shrouded in mystery. The island was once a fortified, isolated military base and has never had any civilian population.

Located on Albania’s stunning Ionian Coast, Dhermi Beach is a must-visit destination for families. The beach is safe for camping, yet it is not recommended when the wind is strong. Campers must take food, water, and other supplies because the area is isolated.
