Known for its ancient history and archeological sites, Fier and its surroundings have a lot to offer, with the Apollonia Archeologica Park and the mediaval monastery or Ardenica where a temple dedicated to Artemis had existed on the site of its oldest chapel, as its crown jewels.

The ancient city of Apollonia, the place where the emperor Octavian Augustus was educated, where we can still see the ruins of the imposing public buildings. The origins of Fier date back to the 6th century BC with the ancient city of Apollonia. Apollonia was the second major Illyrian city and one of the two departure points of the Via Egnatia, one of the main routes of the Roman and Byzantine empires. It is here where the emperor Octavian Augustus was educated.

Today, only 10% of the ancient city is visible. The Monastery inside has has been converted into an archaeological museum with more than 800 objects are on display, making it one of the richest museums in Albania.

Ancient history is everywhere in Fier, from the Neolithic remnants dating back to 40 thousand years ago in the area of Cakran to the archeological site of the ancient city of Bylis.

But Fier is not only ancient rocks. Do not leave without experiencing its rich nature and biodiversity in the Karavasta lagoon and the Natural Reservoir of Pishe Poro and the wild beaches of Darzeza and Seman.

As elsewhere in Albania, religious communities coexist in perfect harmony in Fier. The region boasts some of the country's most important cultural and religious monuments, including the Ardenica monastery, the monastery of Saint Cosma (1518), Saint George church (1776) etc. Libofshë, "the village of churches" is home to another ecclesiastical complex  of  15 churches that carry at least 250 years of history on their shoulders.
